Through the pandemic I gained lived experience of having Long Covid and became a spokesperson for patients, advocating for support and resources. Collaborating between all the major universities across Aotearoa, I use my platform and voice to help build more equitable outcomes. I am the co-founder of Long Covid Support Aotearoa (LCSA) and am a co-investigator on the University of Auckland's Long Covid Registry / Mātauranga Raranga research project. Through my role I established longcovidsupport.co.nz and te rōpu kaitiaki for our kaupapa.

The University of Auckland Long Covid Registry is a project initiated by health economist, Dr Paula Lorgelly, and myself.

We aim to gather information and data from individuals who are experiencing long-term symptoms after recovering from COVID-19, a condition often referred to as “long COVID” or “post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection” (PASC).

The registry collects information about the symptoms, severity, duration, and impact of long COVID on individuals’ lives. By gathering this data, researchers hope to better understand the nature of long COVID, identify risk factors, and develop strategies for management and treatment.

Participants in the registry typically provide information through surveys or interviews, sharing their experiences with long COVID. This data can then be analysed to uncover patterns and trends that may inform healthcare practices and policies related to long-term COVID-19 management.
