Bio
From a young age, I've always been driven by passion and determination. At just 20 years old, I launched my first business, nzgirl, back in 1999. It was one of the world's first online magazines, and its success paved the way for a career filled with entrepreneurial ventures.
Throughout the years, I've founded many businesses, including youth research company 18 Ltd in 2004 (later sold in 2006) and New Zealand’s first influencer management company, Bloggers Club in 2012.
In 2010 I co-founded Flossie.com which eventually evolved into Powered by Flossie (PBF) in 2018. PBF has been on a remarkable journey, transforming the beauty-tech industry with cutting-edge software solutions for international hair product companies and their salon partners.
But my pursuits aren't limited to business. I'm deeply committed to social justice causes, especially after experiencing "Long Covid" myself since 2020.
This led me to found Long Covid Support Aotearoa (LCSA) and initiate the Long Covid Registry/Mātauranga Raranga research project at the University of Auckland.
Mentoring, public speaking, and advocacy are integral parts of my life. I find great joy in inspiring others and contributing to positive change. My ties to my Ngāi Tahu heritage drive my involvement in various Māori advisory boards and community initiatives, including the Piha Mātariki Festival and Cyclone Gabrielle recovery efforts.
In essence, my journey is a blend of entrepreneurship, activism, and a deep-rooted commitment to making a difference. I'm grateful for the opportunities to create impact both in the tech industry and in society as a whole.
